Tech: Transition Giddy Up Link

The first question we get regarding the new 4-bar linkage from Transition is that 'it wont ride like a Transition.' Actually the ride is very much like the Transition you know and love, however with the Giddy Up link improvements have been made by making the suspension more active, especially under braking and all without sacrificing the Transition 'feel'.

This is what Transition say....

"When we set out to design the new family of trail bikes, we wanted to improve our suspension bike pedalling performance, but we didn't want to lose the neutral and comfortable feel that Transition Bikes are known for. No one at Transition wanted a suspension system that felt like it was locking out, or provided any “kick back” in the pedals.

Our Giddy Up link is specifically tuned with a moderate amount of chain growth which is highest at the sag point and decreasing deeper into the travel. Because of this finely tuned wheel path, the new models have a notable increase in traction when climbing, without the rider noticing the chain growth fighting the suspension
movement.

The ride feel of our Giddy Up Link bikes will be familiar for any previous Transition rider, but with a big improvement in suspension performance. Our new models are designed to be active while climbing; increased compression damping or rear shock platforms are not required with the Giddy Up link. The suspension remains free to smooth out the trail, improve traction and control without sacrificing any efficiency. There is no need to think about flipping switches; start your ride with the shock open and leave it there.

With Giddy Up you can focus on the trail, not your remote's, levers or knobs. Just grab your bike, Giddy Up and go."

2015 Transition Rapture

The Rapture is back for 2015 and it will be available in plenty of time for cylocross season. Last year's Rapture sold out immediately, so this year we are making a few more, but supplies are still limited.

Standard features on the Rapture includes our FAST (Freedom Axle System Technology) dropout for singlespeed or geared builds, internal top tube cable routing, and updated cyclocross race geometry with 10mm increased length on the M, L and XL sizes.

The Rapture is sold as a frame and fork combo only and built using Founderland Race Butted 4130 Seamless Chromoly. Available in two colors with bold new graphics; Matte Highlighter Yellow or Matte Pearl White. The framesets will be available in August, so contact your dealer or distributor for a pre-order now. SSP £499.95

In case you missed our Rapture video or haven't seen it in awhile it is a must watch to get you excited about the upcoming cross season.

PRESS RELEASE: North American MTB brand Transition Bikes to be distributed by Windwave

PRESS RELEASE

North American MTB brand Transition Bikes to be distributed by Windwave.

Transition Bikes has announced Windwave as their new UK distributor. Windwave will begin distributing Transition Bikes with its 2015 model year bikes. Transition is a rider owned company founded in 2004 located outside Bellingham, WA. Their product line-up has expanded rapidly in the past years, but they are best known for their freeride, downhill and enduro bike models "Our bikes have always been popular in the UK, and every time I fly across the pond for a visit I remember why," said Transition International Sales Manager, Sam Burkhardt. "The UK riding scene has a lot in common with the Pacific Northwest; our mountains might be a bit bigger, but the trails in the UK are really awesome, and our bikes are a perfect fit for the market," said Burkhardt.

“We are stoked to have Windwave signed on to help us grow the brand to another level in the UK. We would also like to take the opportunity to thank Surf Sales for all their hard work over the past few years,” said Kyle Young, Transition Bikes owner.

Windwave marketing manager Dan Jones said:
“We have been long-time admirers of Transition Bikes with their amazing marketing style and company values; we are all really excited to be working with the Transition team starting with the 2015 models."

Transition will release info about its 2015 bikes during the Eurobike trade show in Germany this August. Windwave will begin to supply the UK dealer network around this same time. All current model year inquiries should be directed to Surf-Sales or Transition Bikes directly.

Windwave is a co-founder of the Core Bike Show and will add Transition to their existing portfolio of A2Z, BBB, Colnago, Dainese, FSA, Gravity, Ice Toolz, Marzocchi, Morgan Blue, Nokon and Vision.
